18 Sep Why Is It Important to Have a Developed Brand?
Did you know that we are currently going through a crisis of creative effectiveness? As Peter Field states in his report: “we have arrived in an era where award-winning creativity typically brings little or no effectiveness advantage”. (Source) After reading this report that although focuses on how the “[…]the effectiveness advantage [of creativity] has continued to decline” over the past few years, it made me think of effectiveness of a good brand, and how many businesses often miss out on its benefits by simply misusing branding or just not doing it all. So, let’s discuss the reasons for having a well-developed brand.
Memorability
A well-developed brand name, symbol/logo, brand colours and overall brand message and feel checks off the first, and arguably one of the most important, boxes when it comes to a successful business – memorability.
It is vital for any businesses’ success to be the first thing that comes to potential customer’s minds when thinking of a product or service they may be seeking. A well-branded company will not only capture audience’s attention, but also ensure the longevity of their memory of you.

Effectiveness
We are basically visually-overloaded every single day of our lives – at home or outside – ads, branding, design surrounds us. Having a fully developed brand will allow you to stand out as a business and become effective.
The ultimate goal for a business is to not only be noticed, but to gain customer loyalty and love. A good brand will appear more high quality, trusting and worth their time and money.
Trustworthiness
Speaking of trusting, a business that lacks a proper brand, or works with branding that is old-fashioned and out-dated is less likely to be chosen over their competitors.
It is unlikely for a consumer of today to trust a business that simply doesn’t look trustworthy. Lack of visual appeal and clear message can really damage a business reputation and that simply means – no customers.
So how do you create a well-developed brand?
As we stated in our previous blog:
- Do research on your target market, audience and competitors.
- Come up with a good name. Create an eye-catching and responsive logo and other necessary design elements (letter headers, business cards, signage, website design, billboards and more – whatever you may need).
- Define your brand’s language and tone that will determine how you communicate as a business. Define what your brand does not want to become or target.
- And finally, keep all of that consistent throughout your company’s journey.
