05 Feb Should You Focus On Branding or Marketing?
Branding and marketing: we talk a lot about both subjects, but which one is more important? Should you focus on marketing or branding? Should you invest in one or the other? We’ll try and answer all these questions in this blog.
Let’s get the most important out of the way, understanding what the difference between marketing and branding is:
Branding defines your business, helps you become unique and stand out, builds recognition, loyalty and trust and should be the first thing you think about.
Marketing, on the other hand, is what makes your brand known, grabs audience’s attention, helps build customer numbers and sales, increases visibility, and will normally come second.
That being said, although there is an order in which you should approach these, one cannot live without the other. It is marketing that will attract a potential customer, and branding will help them stay.
If you do not invest time, effort and even money into marketing, it’s unlikely anyone will actually know about your business products or services. However, without branding, even the biggest marketing efforts will not result in sales if there is nothing to help a customer remain interested, care and choose you over a competitor.
Best advice we can give you is if you’re wanting to build a business with an audience, loyal customers and even a community that will come back to you and recommend you to others, then start with a strong, fully developed and polished branding foundation and then market the s*it out of it. If you want to just make some quick money by selling a product and then leave it behind, then go ahead and just skip to marketing.

Simply put, former is a long-term investment, latter is a short-term one. It is your choice which one you’ll go for depending on what goal you have for your business. We’ve worked with clients in both: marketing and branding, and it takes quite a different approach for each.
